Indicative

Not Indicitive.

It finagles money from the feds by including more people in Medicaid, thus inciting more funds from the federal government.  There isn't anything wrong with that on a state level.  States do it all the time.  That is what Washington politics is all about, each state fighting for money from the federal government.

This fight is already won due to a loophole in Medicaid that grants waivers.   Now in terms of a budgetary analysis, that is up to the budget committee, and think tanks.

However, the last politician I know that gave specific dollar amounts in terms of what every program costs was H. Ross Perot.  We all know how he fared.

In either case, your arguments are fickle!  In terms of the expansion to people above the federal poverty line, the legislation clearly states that the premium these people pay in order to get coverage:

The premium for coverage shall not exceed the amount the program pays per month to a managed care organization under NJ FamilyCare
.

This means it wont cost the person getting coverage no more than $2,017 out of pocket (plus admin fee, and copays).

The rest of the money is presumed to come from the Federal/Medicaid money pool.

So, in essence the person buying in takes away the state cost leading to a savings to the state of $2,017 from the $3,877 which equals $1,860.  This gets taken up by the medicaid/federal money pool.

On top of that your last figure is misleading.

The buy in is only for people making 350% of the poverty level.  That is the $43,715 figure I cited in my original post.

Now for single people, the calculations are different for FPL.  Which is why I linked to the site that had those figures.

However, if you want to get wonkish it seems like you can.  I couldn't find anything on this plan and it has major bipartisan support in the state legislature.  Nobody running the state currently thinks this plan is untennable.

You however, ROC seem to know more than most of them.  I am no Democrat appologist, as a matter of fact I take pride in being an equal opportunity chastizer, but your arguments against this plan are malinformed at best.

Go ask the cosponsors of the bill for cost estimates.

I am sure they can send them to you!
