On the Subject of Banning

Some of us here go back to the old USENET discussion groups.  I was a frequent poster in talk.abortion and talk.origins as far back as 1986.  One of the great things about those newsgroups was that they were an unmoderated free-for-all, right up until that became the worst thing about those newsgroups.  There is a huge difference between honest, oppositional discussion and disruptiveness and trolling.  RoC was actually presenting honest opposition for a while, but he went off the rails on the subject of health care, posting false anaylses and ignoring the responses he received.  The poster who calls himself "media in trouble" gave an excellent response to RoC recently and I admire mit's ability to get into the wonky details of it and straighten RoC out.

I don't like banning people, but there's a point where the entire discussion begins to suffer from certain posters whose only point is to disrupt.  I trust Matt to use his own judgement on that...however...

I do not want to see anyone complaining about a banning.  Based on what I have seen here, Matt's working in very good faith and has been very patient.  Remarks like that SmadaNek's above are just a hissy fit. That snotty "what's that say about your boss" stuff is just wrong and treads close to banning territory because the one thing you don't get away with is abusing the host.  You keep yourself civil or take it somewhere else.  You do not abuse the host in his own house.  If you do, don't gripe about getting tossed out.  You wouldn't put up with it in your house, so don't get all huffy and throw a hissy fit if somebody else won't put up with it.

Sorry folks.  Thought the discussion could use a little historical perspective and a reminder about good manners.  Don't mean to get all pedagogic.

"hissy fit?"

So, it's wrong to ask the Corzine Campaign's representative to the blogosphere about his actions and how they relate to "how your boss intends to govern?"

Note that I asked about policy, not about the man.  I find your characterization of my post as a "hissy fit," "huffy" and "snotty" to be offensive and demeaning.  You claim to be for good manners, but fall far short of that standard yourself.

If you want your comments section to be nothing more than a mutual adoration society, then by all means go right ahead.  But if you are going to take that route, I would respectfully suggest that you change the Corzine Connection's motto.  As ROC pointed out, that motto says

The Corzine Connection is a coalition of New Jerseyans who seek a better state through active civic involvement. This web site is focused on building a conversation and community around the issues that are important to New Jerseyans.
