Corzine Won...but failed to...

deliver the knockout blow when he had Forrester on the ropes. TWICE!!!

When Jon asked about how Forresters own proposed legislation would view his own pay to play practices...he allowed Forrester off the hook.  Forrester simply evaded the question and Jon did NOT call him out on it.

On the Stem Cell issue, Jon let Forrester get away with a bland, "I'm for stem cell research too....." type BS answer.  By not drawing the distinction between EMBRYONIC stem cell research and the rest Corzine allowed viewers to mistakenly believe that both candidates had the same position.

Corzine seemed somewhat nervous at times and tentative...yet he clearly is the more sincere and intelligent.   Forrester comes off as supremely confident; but also as smug and phony...

Corzine will probably win in a close race (7 points, maybe); but he SHOULD beat this Republican hack by twenty five points.

Unfortunately Jon has gone with his proffessional consultants instead of his heart and gut; this is the way politics is these days.

If a Democrat ever actually ran as a Democrat with NO fear...I dare say we would kick ass AND the voter registration lists would swell.

We need to take a page out of the Republican playbook on that item...they have a much smaller natural base constituency yet they've won elections.  Why is that?  They lie, cheat, and successfully repress the democratic vote...and, oh yes, they intimidate Democratic candidates who are afraid of being called liberal, or unpatriotic, or against business, or taxers/spenders.....but their base is solid and reliable.  Most of our natural base isn't even registered to vote.

The truth is that Republicans are NOT for real free market fair business.  They are for corrupt monopolistic/crony capitalism that screws mom and pop small operations and ordinary middle class (what's left of it) working people....AND anyone who is poor.

The truth is that the Republican party benefits from getting most of the votes from anyone who is a bigot or a racist...where else can those people go?  The "Southern Strategy" is alive and well.

NRA, jingoistic "patriots", fundamentalist fanatics, talk radio/tv sycophants of Limbaugh/Hannity/O'Reilley/Grant etc etc etc.......the fact is; unless you are very wealthy, you should not be voting for Republicans.  Period.

Now all we have to do is to get our Democratic leaders to LEAD with courage!!!

I could go on and on here; but if you haven't gotten the point yet, another few hundred more words won't do it.

Bottom Lines:

Jon Corzine is a good and decent Democrat, and he has my support...he ain't perfect, but compared to Doug Forrester, Jon is a Saint!!!

When Corzine is in office THAT'S when NJ Democrats will have to hold his feet to the fire and demand that he govern with at least half as much idealism and honesty as he campaigned with.
