Corzine won...but didn't politically eviscerate...

.......Mr Forrester as he could/should have.

No one wants Jon to get overtly mean and nasty; that's clearly negative.  But this guy Forrester truly deserves to have his political head handed to him.  At the end, there were some flashes of the kind of tough factual/rational challenging that Corzine should have been doing all along.

Of course Jon Corzine wins hands down on the facts and on the logic; but many people judge these things by a kind of miasma of tone and tenor/style.

Forrester comes off as tough and aggressive and as confident and self assured.  Jon needs to shed enough bright light (and strong fire) on this facade to expose the reality; which is that Forrester is a smug blowhard who operates as a bully (and as we should all understand...bullies are cowards at the core).  Doug is a con man at heart; just like Bush.

Again, this can be pulled off without Corzine raising his voice or sinking to the Forrester level...simply clearly directly tell the truth and demand the truth in response...Jon did a wee bit of that towards the end, and it worked well at that point.

It would break my heart to see another Kerry/Bush type result in this race...simply being smarter, truthful, and right isn't good enough; not if you're on the defensive most of the time.  People like Bush and Forrester need to be exposed...over and over and over.  The more light is shed on these creatures; the more dis-illusioned the electorate becomes with them.

And I do hope that Corzine is truly serious about eliminating pay to play.  It's nothing more than legalized bribery.

Ideally we should ban all contributions from all "organisations" be they corporate/pac/union or whatever.  Ideally we should have public financing based on petitions and small (say $25 dollars or less) contributions that get multiplied.  Of course it gets complicated; but the details can be worked out...the principle is that ideas and competence should determine who wins; not just how much money is raised or spent.  We need to have an option other than crooks or multimillionairs.

Decent honest folk should be recruited (anybody who wants this kind of power probably shouldn't have it ;-) to run for office.

Imagine what politics would be like if the constituency was actually the mass of ordinary citizens!  And the leadership actually led!!!  (As opposed to framing messages by polls and executing policies that paid back the contributor$)

Having said all that; I'm with Jon Corzine; he ain't perfect...but compared to Forrester and what's behind Forrester...Jon is a relative Saint!
